A cufflink is a decorative fastener worn by men or women to fasten the two sides of the cuff on a dress shirt or blouse. Cufflinks designed only for use with link cuffs, which have buttonholes on both sides but no buttons. These may be either single or double-length cuffs, and may be worn either kissing, with the ends pinched together, or barrel-style, with one end overlapping the other. Kissing cuffs are usually preferred. Cufflink designs vary widely. The simplest design consists of a short post or chain connecting two disc-shaped parts. The part positioned on the most visible side is usually larger; a variety of designs can connect the smaller piece. It may be small enough to fit through the buttonhole as a button would separate and attached from the other side. It may have a portion that swivels on the central post, aligning with the post while the link threaded through the buttonhole and swiveling into a position at right angles to the post when worn.

A hair follicle is part of the skin that grows hair by packing old cells together. Attached to the follicle is a sebaceous gland, a tiny sebum-producing gland found everywhere except on the palms, lips and soles of the feet. The more sebaceous glands present, the thicker the density of the hair. Also attached to the follicle is a tiny bundle of muscle fiber called the arrector pili that is responsible for causing the follicle lissis to become more perpendicular to the surface of the skin, and causing the follicle to protrude slightly above the surrounding skin (piloerection). This process results in goose bumps (or goose flesh). Stem cells are located at the junction of the arrector and the follicle, and are principally responsible for the ongoing hair production during a process known as the Anagen stage. The average growth rate of healthy hair follicles on the scalp is .04 centimeters per day.
